Mixer Taps are a specialised product, they require a qualified person to service them.

 

Sink Mixer Tap

 

The basic sink mixer tap, has a limited life due to the amount of use it gets, it is by far the most used tap in a dwelling. We recomend replacing the Sink Mixer if it begins to leak. However if you have a reciept for the original purchase of the mixer you should make enquiries to the retailer who sold you the product, some mixer taps have warranties up to five years.

Shower / Bath Mixer Tap

 

The Shower Mixer or Bath Mixer cannot be replaced easily like the above Sink Mixer or a Basin Mixer (hob mounted). If your Shower / Bath Mixer leaks a plumber needs to be engaged to replace the Mixer cartridge. The Mixer cartridge is the mechanism in the mixer body that controls the water flow. With the wall mounted mixer like the picture below, the Mixer body is plumbed into the wall cavity before the wall linings and wall tiles are installed. It is very helpfull for the plumber and will save you money if you can tell the plumber what make your Wall mounted mixer tap is and its approximate age, if the plumber has this information they can most times pick a replacement Mixer cartridge up on the way to your job.
