A Tempering valve regulates the temperature of water from a Hot Water System to a desired temperature at the outlet point of the hot water fixture

eg: basin spout, shower rose, bath spout.

 

It is law in Queensland on every new house and alterations to a bathroom on an existing house be fitted with a tempering valve, which tempers the water to 49°.

 

Also if replacing your existing Hot Water System with a different model or type of Hot Water System a Tempering valve is required to be fitted.
